Class Descriptions
Performing
Arts Program
The goal of the Performing Arts
Program is to develop dancers
who want to make a higher
commitment to the art of dance.
Dancers in the program must
attend at least two ballet
classes per week, one Cecchetti
and one regular ballet class.
Tap and Jazz are required in the
performing arts program;
additional studies are strongly
encouraged.
Participation in
the Performing Arts Program
requires a year-round
commitment which assures a
dancer’s progression. Unlike
some studios, Dance Mores is not
subsidized - it does not receive
grants or other financial help
from the government. Dance
Moves’ serious students not only
commit to their personal
improvement, but also commit to
support their studio.
Classical Ballet

ballet) Traditional classical ballet technique utilizing the graded Cecchetti syllabus,
with exposure to other relevant
ballet styles incorporated in barre and

in the Dance Moves performing
arts program, as well as developing the necessary technique, muscular strength, physical maturity and personal stamina
needed.
Tap

use their feet like drums to
create rhythmic patterns and
timely beats.
Jazz (Required) Energetic,
fun movement in current and
classical styles.
Modern (Strongly
encouraged ~ Ballet 3+) Dance movement introducing basic technique utilizing space, locomotion, time and expression in a
contemporary method.
Master Classes are offered by
guest artists, in different
styles, and may be available at
different times throughout the
year.
Repertory
These segments of
time are reserved for
rehearsals, when needed, for
upcoming performances as well as
Master Classes and private
coaching. All students who
participate in productions
should plan to reserve these
days and times. Dates when
repertory begins will be
communicated when performance
space is secured and actual show
dates are set.
Class
Placement
Class placement is made on the basis of teacher evaluation and recommendation. New students will be placed in the most appropriate class level based on their age, experience and expressed interest in dance. Students desiring admittance to the Performing Arts Program are required to attend a placement class for evaluation. Students will need to register in advance for this placement evaluation. There is a $10 nonrefundable fee for the evaluation. Placement Sessions will be scheduled as needed.
